It’s that time of the year again and the media is full of rumour, speculation and down right wishful thinking. Forums across the gaming world are alive with tough talk on who they think is already the so called “winner” of the show and we haven’t even started. This can only mean one thing, it’s time for the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
For those of you that don’t know, E3, is the biggest event on the video game calendar. It’s the place where the industry’s brightest come together to show the world what we are all going to be playing, and spending our money on, over the next 12 months. This is when we finally get to hear the details of the secret, and sometimes not so secret, projects that have kept the industry busy.
This year promises to be particularly special as we are expecting to see for the first time the next home console from Nintendo and all the details on Sony’s new handheld. Microsoft, on the other hand, may not have any new hardware this year but we should get to see some new Kinect software which will hopefully include something for the “hardcore” gamer. Along with the usual avalanche of game announcements, trailers, live demos and booth babes, this is the week we’ve all been waiting for. This is E3.
